BRIGHAM CITY-Almeda “Mead” Hadfield Stokes Bowcutt , 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Pioneer Care Center, Brigham City, UT.
Mead was born in Downey, Idaho on February 14, 1914 a daughter of John and Louisa (Hancock) Hadfield.
She married Othello B. Stokes on August 18, 1931. in Farmington, UT. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple. Othello passed away February 11, 1974. Mead later married George Bowcutt in June, 1981in Idaho Falls, ID. George passed away August, 2001.
Mead was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Brigham City 12th Ward.
She loved to ballroom dance, crochet and was still making baby blankets at 94 even though she was legally blind.
Survived by her two daughters, Joyce Harmon, Colleen Hamson of Brigham City, and one son, Alan Stokes, South Jordan, UT, step-children; Galen Bowcutt, Lola Bernhisle, and Geri Mecham, 18 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 39 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Ardella Bobo, Myrna Smith, and Sheryl Bronson, all from Tremonton and daughter-in-law, Fran Stokes of Ogden.
Preceded in death by both husbands, son Dallas Stokes, sons-in-law Wendell Harmon, Floyd Hamson and her great- granddaughter, Crystal Cazier.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 South 100 East, Brigham City.
Friends may call on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary and on Tuesday from 12:00 to 12:40 p.m.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
